What should your SEO discuss with you before starting
- What specifically is the target? For example:
- increasing your Alexa ranking
- appearing in the first 10 results on Google for a specific keyword?
- For how long must it stay there?
- What happens if they don't meet the target - will you pay anything?
- How they are going to work with your current web coder. For example, will their suggestions about changing structure, headings and content have to be agreed with your existing website developer, or will they make the changes.
- Who is going to write any new content needed on your website?
- Who is going to write any articles, Facebook messages, blogs and tweets in the first instance when your social media sites are set up?
- Who is going to write copy and articles for external websites that will link to your website?
- Do you need to agree any short descriptions and content where they add links to your website from other websites?
- What systems do you need to put in place on an on-going basis to write blogs, tweets, articles, and to update the material on your website?
Think of the possible consequences if they don't ask any of these questions! It's a good indication or whether or not you are dealing with experienced professionals!
